M-Systems Introduces Pocketable, Reliable and Simple-to-Use Personal Storage Device for PC and Mac Users

Revolutionary New Pen-Sized Secured Storage Device Plugs Directly Into USB Ports and Delivers up to 32 MB of Removable Storage For Data, Music and Photo Files

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 2000-- M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd. (Nasdaq:FLSH - news), a leader in flash disk data storage products for the Internet appliance and network infrastructure markets, today announced that its DiskOnKey(TM) division has developed a new, universal, portable secured data storage device based on flash memory. The product, an ergonomically designed pocketable, pen-sized device, is based on M-Systems' patented core TrueFFS® technology, as well as on the Company's newly developed and patented DiskOnKey technology. The product is compatible with all major operating systems and connects directly into a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port with no driver installation required.
Several top-tier computer manufacturers have expressed interest in the small and highly portable DiskOnKey product as an alternative to the portable floppy drive and the 3.5`` diskette. This compact, self-contained and lightweight product has no moving parts, and is far more reliable than the traditional diskette. The current maximum capacity of the device is equivalent to the capacity of up to 22 diskettes, enabling users to easily move large data files such as music files or digital camera files between electronic devices with a USB port. No portable floppy drive, cables or readers are required because the DiskOnKey product plugs directly into the popular USB port on PCs, laptops and many Internet appliances.
``Championed by Apple with the launch of iMac, USB delivers on the promise of providing all Mac customers with the hot plug-and-play convenience they expect,'' said Clent Richardson, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. ``DiskOnKey is an innovative and simple-to-use USB product that advances data storage to meet the needs of on-the-go computing users.''
Operation of the DiskOnKey product is simple, requiring no additional software or hardware and no power supply or batteries. The product can be plugged into, or unplugged from, a USB port at any time during the computer's operation. Immediately upon installation, the device is recognized by and functions as an additional disk drive within the host computer's operating system. The device is operating-system independent, enabling easy movement of data between Windows-, Macintosh- and Linux-based systems. Furthermore, the product is an ``active device,'' which means it has its own CPU and is therefore capable of supporting and running multiple applications directly from the product, such as automatic log-in.
``This product meets a real need and can transform the way people interact with and among desktop PCs, laptops and Internet appliances,'' said Dan Harkabi, vice president of the DiskOnKey Division of M-Systems. ``With the winning combination of reliable, personal, pocketable, portable and plug-and-play data storage, this simple yet very smart device has the ability to replace antiquated, cumbersome, low-capacity and unreliable technologies like the floppy disk and floppy drive, and enables new applications and technologies to evolve.''
Dov Moran, M-Systems' president, added: ``Our revolutionary device makes it easy for people to carry and access meaningful data at all times. Your critical files, your favorite music, your important phone numbers and your children's photos all reside on a product that fits in your pocket and even plugs into a friend's computer for access. For this reason, I believe that our DiskOnKey product line will share in the great success of our DiskOnChip product line. We will continue to invest resources to make the DiskOnKey an even greater success.''
M-Systems is launching the DiskOnKey product following 18 months of development. The product will be available initially in capacities of 8 MB, 16 MB and 32 MB, with higher capacities planned for the near future. It will be demonstrated at COMDEX/Fall at the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall, Booth NS417/NS419. Work also has begun on developing exciting new applications that can reside on the device, with additional product introductions planned during the first half of 2001.
Messrs. Moran and Harkabi will discuss the Company's new DiskOnKey product in a group conference call today at 11 a.m. EST. Those interested in participating should call 703/871-3073. A replay will also be available, starting Nov. 6, 2000, at 2 p.m. EST and ending Nov. 8, 2000, at 11:59 EST by calling 703/925-2533 and entering the access code 4744529.

Press Release

M-Systems Revises Estimates for First Quarter 2001

KFAR-SABA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2001--M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd. (NASDAQ: FLSH - news) today announced that revenues and earnings for the first quarter of 2001 are anticipated to be lower than previously estimated.

The Company said that due to the continued and spreading economic slowdown, it now expects revenues for the first quarter to be approximately $15 million, flat with revenues from the comparable period of 2000, and lower than the Company's revenues in the fourth quarter of 2000. The Company also expects to incur a loss of approximately $0.08 per share.

Dov Moran, President of M-Systems said, ``We are all aware of the current economic slowdown, specifically in the Internet appliance (IA) and telecom markets. We have experienced an unexpectedly high number of order cancellations and/or delays during the quarter, resulting in lower revenues.

``We believe this is a short-term phenomenon and we have full confidence in the longer term outlook. We continue to develop and market excellent product lines, achieve significant design wins and open new markets. M-Systems also maintains a very strong cash position.'' He continued, ``We believe that once current market conditions settle down, M-Systems will emerge as a much stronger company.''

Mr. Moran will discuss the matters referenced herein in a group conference call today at 11:00 a.m. U.S. EST. Those who wish to participate may dial 1-973-628-9554, approximately five minutes before the call.
