London Sumatra Shares Suspended
30-JUN-04

JAKARTA (Bisnis): The Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) maintained the suspension of PT London Sumatra Indonesia Tbk shares as the company had not fulfilled the regulation of distributing dividend.
The JSX suspended the shares of London Sumatra since the first session of trading yesterday as the plan of the company to distribute some dividend was not in line with the regulation of the Capital Market Supervisory Board.

A division head of the JSX Yose Rizal said that the plan of London Sumatra might create some bad impact to the creditors as well as the company itself.

"It is the company who know the cash flow if the company distributes some dividend. We just see from the perspective of regulation that the distribution plan of dividend is against the regulation. Therefore we maintain the suspension on the shares of the company," Yose told Bisnis Indonesia last evening.

Yose said that the JSX had been investigating the plan of the company to distribute some dividend as the credit balance of the company was not enough to pay the dividend.

"Their credit balance is minus IDR150 billion, while the additional balance is just IDR5 billion. We are concerned that the fund of the company will not be enough so that it will create some uncertainties on the financial condition of the company," he said.

He said that the regulation of Bapepam actually allowed a company with minus credit balance to distribute some dividend with some exception. But London Sumatra, he said, had not met the exception standard.

A company with negative credit balance may distribute some dividend with some conditions.

Firstly, the net profit of the running year must be positive, secondly the additional capital must be higher than the negative credit balance, thirdly the equity must be positive, fourthly the dividend must be lower than the profit of the running year, and lastly the dividend distribution would not make the total equity of the company lower than the paid in shares and the compulsory reserve.

Reportedly London Sumatra planned to distribute some dividend of IDR10 per share. In its announcement, London Sumatra planned to distribute the dividend on August 2 this year. (08/adn)

JSX Lifts Lonsum's Shares Suspension
02-JUL-04

JAKARTA (Bisnis): The Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) lifted the suspension of publicly listed PT Perusahaan Perkebunan London Sumatera Plantation's (Lonsum) shares yesterday after the company had stated it would cancel its plan to pay 2003 cash dividend.
Listing Director of JSX Harry Wiguna informed that Lonsum had notified the JSX that the plan to pay the dividend of IDR10 per share based on the performance of 2003 fiscal year would be changed with the plan to pay interim dividend that would be calculated in terms of 2004 fiscal year.

Since Lonsum had cancelled its plan to pay 2003 dividend, the JSX decided to lift the suspension of the shares that had been applied since June 29.

According to Harry, Lonsum could not pay 2003 dividend since it booked IDR150 billion in negative profit balance in 2003 and only injected IDR5 billion additional funds. Given the condition, the JSX viewed Lonsum's plan to pay dividend as risky and full of uncertainty.

In the meantime, in his written report to the JSX, President Director of Lonsum Glenn MS. Yusuf said the company would announce the range of the interim dividend at the next company's announcement.

Glenn mentioned that the company's equity up to the first quarter of 2004 rose to IDR174 billion from IDR104 billion in December 2003 after its bonds were converted to equities.

In the meantime, Harry revealed that the JSX would not ask publicly listed PT Semen Gresik to hold public expose to explain about the disclaimer opinion that the company's 2003 and 2003 financial statements got that had made the JSX suspend the company's shares since June 28.

Harry disclosed that the JSX would lift the suspension next week on Thursday after Semen Gresik's board of directors gave its official written answer to the JSX yesterday. (14/08)

"Semen Gresik's board of directors has promised that the company's financial statements will no longer get disclaimer opinion since the auditor has given its guarantee on that," Harry added. (14/08)
